Certified Hand Therapy (CHT) is a specialized area of Occupational Therapy that focuses on treating conditions affecting the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. A Certified Hand Therapist has advanced training and experience in evaluating and treating injuries such as fractures, tendonitis, nerve injuries, arthritis, and post-surgical recovery. Treatment may include manual therapy, splinting, strengthening exercises, pain management, and customized rehabilitation programs to restore function and reduce pain.

Occupational therapy (OT) helps people regain independence in daily activities after an injury, illness, or disability. OTs focus on improving movement, strength, coordination, and function to enhance quality of life. Therapy may include exercises, adaptive techniques, and education to help individuals return to work, hobbies, and self-care.

Hand therapy helps patients recover from injuries, surgeries, and chronic conditions that affect their ability to use their hands and arms. By working with a CHT, patients receive expert, targeted care to regain movement, strength, and independence in daily activities.

Anyone with a finger, hand, wrist or elbow pain or injury, including post surgical and overuse injuries. I take shoulders on a case by case basis.

Triceps tendonitis, Trigger fingers, Duputryen’s,Neuritis such as: Carpal tunnel, Cubital tunnel, Radial tunnel, sensory changes, nerve grafts/transfers
Fractures
Post-surgical including but not limited to: ORIFs, Carpal Tunnel Release, Cubital Tunnel Transposition, Elbow tendon debridement, Trigger finger release, DeQuervain’s release, Joint Fusions, Duputryen’s, Flexor/Extensor Tendon Repair, CMC Arthroplasty, among many others

Heat pack - use of your own heat pack prior to my arrival, or using mine when I arrive
Anti-inflammatory modalities such as thermal ultrasound or TENS, if applicable
Soft tissue mobilization and/or scar tissue work
Stretching and/or strengthening exercises, depending on what is appropriate
Possible custom fabrication of orthosis if appropriate
Provide any further recommendations for home pain management or home exercises

No. However, if you are under a physician’s care, especially Sports Medicine, Orthopedics, or an Orthopedic surgeon, please either provide the most recent comprehensive physician’s note/records or the physician’s specific recommendations/protocols they wish to have followed, including contact information should I need to obtain further clarification. I can provide the best care when I have all your information, including any medical treatments/procedures prior to your evaluation, or upcoming plans for either.
